Actor Page Wiki Help/FAQ

What can I do on actor pages?
Now you can contribute your knowledge of any actor to any Flixster actor page (like this one or any of our 190,000+ actor pages). That means you add all the images, info, and ideas for actors. Just click the EasyEdit button in these areas (make sure you're logged in) and start editing just like any word processor. Like the name says, it's easy!

How do I add or edit stuff?

Just make sure you’re logged in and click the EasyEdit button at the top of the page. The page will change to resemble a word processor, and you'll be able to edit and add content. You can use the popup box at the top to italicize or bold content, change the alignment, add a link, or make other formatting adjustments. Once you're done, be sure to hit "Save". You’ll be prompted to make an optional note of the purpose of your change. If you decide not to make any edits, just click on "Cancel" and the box will go away. When you make a change, it will immediately be visible to anybody viewing the page, and will be logged in the "content history" section at the bottom.

Actor page skins make it a little hard to edit my Actor Page Wiki Pane. What can I do?
You can temporarily remove the skin from the page. Just beneath the top box on the left hand column - on the far right - you'll see a link that reads, "Unskin this page." Click "unskin" and that page will revert to the default Flixster skin, which is very legible.

We're also working on a switch that you'll see at the top of the page when logged in. This switch will quickly and easily let you turn skins on and off on movie and actor pages. This will quickly and easily let you turn skins on and off on movie and actor pages.

Why can't I edit this page?
Some pages are locked and editable only by moderators. These pages are indicated by a lock over the EasyEdit button at the top of the page. Typically, these are pages that provide navigation or structure for pages that are attached to it. Navigate around the pages beneath that subject and you'll find tons of opportunity to contribute.

I want to create a new page. How do I do that?
You can create new pages from two places:

  • The actor wiki profile box (right on the actor page): Click "add a page" located in the top right box on the wiki profile
  • Any wiki page linked from the wiki profile: Click "Create your own user page" on any subpage, e.g. Actor Quotes.

Hey! Something on this wiki page is wrong! You've got to fix it right away!

The beauty of a wiki is that you can fix it. Just click on the EasyEdit button at the upper left, and you'll be able to change any of the text on the page. Don't go crazy, though - someone took the time to write all the stuff you see there. Good wiki etiquette is to correct factual errors, delete inappropriate content, make spelling and grammar edits, and add new information. Deleting lots of text at once isn't cool, and we keep track of this. Don't make a practice of it unless you're itching for a message from a moderator (and maybe suspension of your site privileges).
