The Twilight Saga: New Moon The Twilight Saga: New Moon PG-13
A much better attempt at capturing the essence of the novel, New Moon takes every doubt that was present during the first film away. What started off as an indie, haunting and mellow portrayal of Twilight, which I thought was a decent try but fragmented, Weitz- with the help of a larger budget- stayed much more true to the book. Stewart carries the movie wholly even though the many shirtless men tend to distract a little. What I really enjoyed was the light-heartedness in the beginning in contrast to the emotional hole Bella falls in later on. They caught that just right. The only flaw, I felt, was the scene in the woods after Edward leaves, which I thought was quite a vital part of the book and would have pictured it darker and more dramatic. All in all, a very pleasant surprise.
Coco avant Chanel (Coco Before Chanel) Coco avant Chanel (Coco Before Chanel) PG-13
I love Coco Chanel and I love Audrey Tautou, so this combination was bound to be pure bliss, and it was. She plays the part perfectly. However, I do share the opinion of many others, the film is too focused on Coco's love life, whereas her relationships with men is the least interesting thing about her. She is not a woman who should be defined by that particular aspect of her life, as she is so much more than that. But although that was a bit of a letdown, I still enjoyed it tremendously and I love the way she was portrayed. When you cast Tautou, you don't need any more actors for she will carry the film entirely, and she didn't disappoint in this one.
