King Kong (2005,  PG-13)
King Kong
Once again Jackson has given us another film loaded witha great story and characters. Still if you don't like long movies then you probably won't fine this one entrancing enough, but it's still action packed right when it starts slowing down. Amazing special effects and the T-Rex scene is amazing!
2
The Breakfast Club (1985,  R)
The Breakfast Club
This is one of my favorite and one of the perfect movies. It's funny, has a lot of heart, great acting, cool story, everything! It's just a great movie. Acting is wondeful by Nelson, Gleeson, and Sheedy, everyone else isgood too, their just not my favorite characters. The scene where their all sitting in a circle and talking about everything and yet nothing is the best. Everyone captures their characters so well at those moments and you see what amazing acting they all have. John Hughs story and direction are perfect and thisstands as being his best film in my opinoin. This is just a movie that I'm able to watch over and over again and highly recommend it to everyone.

"Well, well. Here we are. You have exactly eight hours and fifty-four minutes to think about why you're here. You may not talk, you will not move from these seats. Any questions?"
"Yeah. Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?"

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
Ask almost any STAR WARS fan, "which STAR WARS movie is the best?" and you'll most likely get this movie as the answer. What makes it the best? Is it Kershner in the directing chair? That twist that no one in the 80s saw coming? Yoda? Boba Fett? The Han/Leia romance? The cliff hanger ending?
It's all that stuff and more. It's just perfect. The slightly darker tone to the whole movie, the ending that makes you wonder if the rebels can really win the fight help it too stand out. The story was the perfect follow up to the orignal and had some great twists during the last half of the movie. Of course most people know what those are now, so their not as shocking.
The acting also continued to be storng as the movie went on. Hamill is amazing in his final scenes at the end of the movie.
Ford and Fisher worked great together and even though the romance scenes are a tad corny, they still are very well done and Ford delivers the perfect response to "I love you."
William also fit into his suave gambler role perfectly. Mayhews and Prose (though never really seen) bring great movement to your favorite characters and Jones brings voice to the greatest villian ever and delivers the line that everyone knows perfectly. The cast is too huge to all list here, but they all do great!
The battle scenes are all incredible and will entertain no matter how many times you watch. And the special effects can still hold up for the most part by todays stantards.
SPECIAL EDITION REVIEW: The only thing that bugged me about the new version was the Emperor holo just looked too new. Didn't really connect it right to ROTJ but to the prequels instead. Otherwise people who can't stand "okay" special effects then this is the version for you.
It's my personal favorite of all the STAR WARS movie and every movie. Defintly a must see for all fans and people just starting to get into the films.

"Afraid I was gonna leave without giving you a goodbye kiss?"
"I'd just as soon kiss a Wookiee."
"I can arrange that. You could use a good kiss. "

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
A sequel that lives up to the original! The only problem I really have with this movie is there are some comedic moments that just upset the moment of the film and just don't fit in at all. Their also questionably funny as well.
But it's also a stronger movie in some aspects. The characters become more complexed and developed. Like Davenport's Norrington didn't serve much of a purpose in the first film, just as a secondary nemesis for Sparrow. But this time around he's more complex and we see a darker, more human side to him. Davenport did a great job in his role and shines as a supporting character.
Even though Barbossa was a great villian, this time around we're given a villian with a mysterious back story and great moments on screen that make you wonder. Nighy is amazing as Davy Jones and should have recieved a nomination for best supporting actor for the rolefor all he had to go through to make the character and he became one of the most memorable villians in movie history. Excellent work!
Of course you can't review the movie without bringing up Depp's amazing performace as Sparrow. His character gets even more detail, but still retains all the quirks that made you love him in the first one as well.
Bloom and Knightly make a decent onscreen couple and are good in both their respectable roles.
There is one outstanding sword fight this time around and it's when their on the island. It's truely amazing and one of the best fights I've ever seen. It gets more and more entertaining as it goes on and starts to include more people. One of the best parts of the film. Also the fights against The Kracken are amazing work of CGI and are intense and creepy every time.
The story has more detail and the pacing is great as they race against the clock to save who each of them wants to save and cliff hanging ending is one of my favorite movie moments ever! I always geek out about it every time I see it. It was just perfect.
It's a great and satisfying sequel and one of my favorite films of all time.

"Lord Beckett desires the contents of that chest. I deliver it, I get my life back."
"Ah. The dark side of ambition."
"Oh, I prefer to see it as the promise of redemption."

Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) (1981,  PG)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark)
Awesome movie! It's the perfect adventure movie that is a great send up to the older films only better. The stunts are amazing, especially the stuff on the truck! It's so cool, because you have no CGI there, so it's even more impressive.
The cast is excellent. Ford is the perfect hero, Allen makes a good not so distressing damsel, Rhys-Davies is a great and funny sidekick, and Freeman and Lacey are the perfect villians.
All set to the perfect score by John Williams. I mean his theme is what helps to set the tone for the whole movie.
This film is so cool, from it's iconic opening sequence to the the ending that will send some chills down your spine.
It's fun, funny, full of action and they just don't make them like this anymore really.

"Indy, why does the floor move?"
"Give me your torch. Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?"
"Asps. Very dangerous. You go first."

Wanted (2008,  R)
Wanted
This movie simply blew me away and became an instant favorite and my favorite film of 2008 (followed closely by WALL*E. Go figure. Anyway...). The acting was amazing and I instantly became a fan of both McAvoy and Jolie. They both had great chemstry together and worked well onscreen. Freeman brings a certain amount of class and sophistication to any character he plays and as the leader of The Fraternity it is no differant. He breaks some acting molds I kind of had him set in, especially towards the end of the movie when he takes an interesting character turn that will surprise most people. Kretschman and Common also did a fine job with their scenes as well.
Now fans of the graphic novel/comic books will be disappointed, because as I understand it they are nothing alike for the most part. So if your a fan, expect to see a differant movie all together instead of a comic book adaptation. Even though the story takes a few unbelievable turns (I'll be the first to admit that about the curving bullets and the Loom, but I thought they was a pretty cool ideas), but I still enjoyed it as an entertaining movie. We get a shoot em up movie with a style of gunfighting never seen before and that helps to make the movie stand out, thow in a good story with interesting characters and you have a strong, good film.
It's an amazing mix of fun, guns, and violence, but also an engaging story. Job well done. I have yet to be as amazed after watching a movie as I did when leaving the theater watching this one. It was that amazing for me.

"I knew your father."
"My father left the week I was born, so..."
"Your father died yesterday on the rooftop of the Metropolitan Building. Sorry."
"Look, the liquor aisle is just over there, so if you want to go..."
"Your father was one of the greatest assassins who ever lived. The man who killed him is behind you."

The Big Store (1941,  Unrated)
The Big Store
My favorite Marx Brothers film because it has the best of all they've ever done. The best film musical performance from them when Chico and Harpo play the piano, mixing skill and humor making it entertainment every time I watch it. Groucho's one liners with the amazing and never tiring Dumont (no matter how many fioms she was in with them and always playing the same character). And the amazing chase scene throughout the store through the end.
It could have used with out the end musical number with Martin, but at least they keep the secondary story of him and Grey out of the movie as much as possible without cutting it out all together.
It's my favorite and in my opinion one of their best, worth watching for their fans and fans of the old school comedies.

"Tell me, Wolfie dear, will we have a beautiful home?"
"Of course. You're not planning on moving, are you?"
"No, but, uh, I'm afraid after we're married awhile, a beautiful young girl will come along, and, uh, you'll forget all about me."
"Don't be silly. I'll write you twice a week."
8
Sin City (2005,  R)
Sin City
Maybe I've seen this movie too many times, but it's starting to seem a little over-dramatic sometimes. And yet I can still manage to enjoy it.
It's got a great cast all around with Willis, Wood, Del Toro, Bledel, Owen, Alba, Hartnett, Murphy,Stahl, and Shelton standing out as my favorites, but everyone else does a solid job as well.
Del Toro and Owen steal the show though for the scene between the two of them in the car. It's creepy yet you can't stop watching all at the same time. Excelletn work on Tarantino's part for doing that scene.
The stories are great and interconnect pefectly, but my favorite has to be "That Yellow Basterd", because of the acting from the cast in that one and it's conclusion. "The Big Fat Kill" comes in a close second though for Owen's perfect naration throughout the movie, it's thrilling storyline, and making surprise hereos ot of prostitutes.
Also the opening scene's story is a great way to start the movie and to hold your atention for the rest of it.
I've read a couple of the comics and they follow most of the story spot on and transfered perfectly to the big screen. Miller created a dismal world that still manages to find some "heroes" that are no where near perfect, but you hope they win anyway, and Rodriguez was the perfect choice to bring it to life. It's visually amazing and the use of colors highlighting characters and objects at precise moments is really cool and beautifully done.
RECUT, EXTENDED, UNRATED EDITION: The only reason it's worth your money is the included version of the a graphic novel, a slew of bonus features (the green only version is actually pretty cool), and both versions of the movie. But the other version isn't really worth it because it's just the movie broken up into four seperate movies if ou don't have the attention span to watch all flow together into one movie. There are on or two "okay" deleted bits that have been tossed into the new cuts of the movie, but nothing to get too excited for. If it didn't come with the good version and a bunch of bonus features I would have said it's not worth it.

It's a comic book movie for adults that's beautifully stylized in a way never before seen (but will be anoyingly duplicated) and is defintly worth seeing.

"(Where to fight counts for a lot...)"
"Cute trick, McCarthy... but it will do you no good..."
"(But there's nothing like having your friends show up... .with lotsa guns...)"

Holes (2003,  PG)
Holes
A great movie that follows the book very closely. It's one of my favorites for a perfect story, cast, and the pacing of the movie itself.
The acting is great from all involved. The kids themselves are especially great and could stand on there own. The adult actors through the whole story are excellent too with Arquette, Vioght, Nelson, and Weaver giving their best.
The story might be hard to follow at times, because it does a lot of jumping around from the past, to the present, and back too a completely differant past. Still it all comes together in the end, leaving no holes, but the ones already dug. The only bad thing were the bad CGI lizards that make a couple appearances. Thankfully they're not there a whole lot.
This movie is defintly worth seeing many times and is a good family movie and should be satisfactory for fans of the book.

"You girl scouts want to hear a story. Once apon a time there was a magical place that never rained... The end."

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001,  R)
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Hard to believe they could come up with enough funny stuff to fill an entire movie on these two, but Smith did and suceeded! It's hilarious, one of Smith's funniest movies, and you can't help but smile during the whole film.
Smith and Mewes aren't the best actors in the world, but they're talented and likable enough to get by. Ferrell does a good job too and so far this is tone of THE only movies he's in that I actually like. Most of the rest of the cast is made up of celebrity cameos.
The celebrity cameos are the best especially the stuff with Damon and Affleck. Kudos to all celebrities who were in this film and didn't mind making a joke about themselves in the process.
The other cool thing is how Smith brings a lot of his characters from his other films into small parts that were usually saved for the main duo in the movie. Some of the jokes are inside jokes and unless you've seen the other movies you won't get some of em(the only one I haven't seen is CHASING AMY, but I was still able to laugh at those jokes). The one part that I didn't find funny was thankfully not in the movie, but in the deleted scenes.
It's a goofier, less character driven version of the ViewAskewniverse, but that made it all the better. So if your a fan of Smith's Jay and Silent Bob then you'll love this movie.
END OF AND DURING CREDITS: Some bloopers during cast list and a short scene at the end of credits.

"You're like a child. What've I been telling you? You gotta do the safe picture. Then you can do the art picture. But then sometimes you gotta do the payback picture because your friend says you owe him......and sometimes, you have to go back to the well."
"And sometimes, you do Reindeer Games."
"See, that's just mean."

Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl
Amazing! Depp and Rush steal the show here, the story though simple is fun just the same. The real treat are the secondary characters who are all brilliantly protrayed and make this movie what it is! Fanatastic ship to ship battles and sword fighting, amazing special effects, and brilliant filming make this a MUST see!
12
Dogma (1999,  R)
Dogma
A hilarious movie for anybody, unless your easily affended when it comes to religion then you'll want to stay away. Still kudos and three cheers to Kevin Smith for making a great film the raises a lot of questions about religion and man kind, without even trying. For being a comedy Smith has amazing insight into human nature, giving us real-like characters in memorable moments. Kudos to everyone involved, because they made a genuinely funny film, that quietly makes a few interesting points. Smith is a great actor, director, writer, and will hopefully make even more great films.
13
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
This one seems to have the same feel as the first and doesn't suffer from the silliness the second one had at awkward times. Still it was obviously rushed through in order to have a completed script, cause of some of the obsurd bits and a slight disappointing Davy Jones story. But you need to see this film multiple times to get it and get the rightfeel for the characters and you'll understand why they do what they do. That I think is what the writer's captured perfectly. Who their characters are. After a couple showings you'll learn to like it, because there are so many good parts and a massive fight scene at the end that takes you breath away! The last 30 minutes of the film are the best and have the right feel and fun to the whole series.
Unfortunately it has some problems. Don't have a cool Chinese pirate played by Chow Yun Fat in the movie and have him do almost zero amount of fighting on screen. We need to see some cool martial arts sword play!
Also the BIG Calypso reveal is so corny and over the top, that you'll just roll your eyes. It should been done differant and not like some old B movie.
Fear not though, there is some good on the horizon. Knightly shows some great acting chops this go around and impressed me greatly. Depp of course captures the almost now insane Sparrow in his usual hilarious fashion. Bloom, though won't be winning any Oscars anytime soon, still does a decent job and works well with his costars, especially Skarsgard. Rush, Davenport, Skarsgard, Hollander, and all the other secondary charcters give grea performances and don't get overshadowed by the lead cast.
The special effects are top notch and you will be blown away by the end scene and laugh at the Hultiple Jacks bits.
AT WORLD'S END is a movie you'll learn to like if your not sure about it at first though you'll have to devout some time to it because of how long it is. It's worth your time and is a great ride.

"The King and his men stole the Queen from her bed /And bound her in her bones./ The seas be ours and by the powers/ Where we will, we'll roam. Yo ho, all hands, hoist the colours high/ Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die!/ Yo ho, haul together, hoist the colours high/ Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die!"

Ice Age (2002,  PG)
Ice Age
Better then SHREK! My all time favorite animated comedy! The story is great, animation amazing, and the voice acting is hilarious! John Leguizamo as SID is one of THE funniest things ever seen!
15
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975,  PG)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
This comedy masterpiece is the best example of the right amount of every type of comedy can be made into one film. A great and entertaining if you like shear lunacy sometimes and great comeidic timing the next. The acting is great by all, especially since all the cast play multiple parts, it's sometrimes hard to tell whose who. The jokes are great and keep being funny till the end, though sometimes you have to listen closely, because most of the time the jokes come at you fast and in long conversations. This cult classic lives up to it's hype and you'll laugh out loud or just shake your head sometimes, even though it includes quite a bit of british humor the comedy is still easy to laugh at. I also suggest you get the DVD, because the interviews, behind the scenes, and other bonus features are just as funny as the film. That's my review, so go away you sons of a silly persons before I taunt you a second time.

The Frighteners (1996,  R)
The Frighteners
Before LOTR and KING KONG we had Jackson making these kind of movies. Good horror/comedies! If you've seen LOTR or KK then you'll recognize a lot of the filming style he uses here and it works well on his story telling method. The story is imaginative and well told with well written and performed characters. Fox does a great job with his role and shines in several scenes! Other cast memebers do well especially the actor's playing the ghosts. The movie has some mildly funny aspects, but only a few laugh out loud moments. Others you'll chuckle at but still enjoy. Some good frightening moments and shocks and are all filmed, timed, and scored well that increase that aspect. To some it might move a tad slow, but the pace seemed well to me without slowing down. It's a movie to wacth to be scared and amused at the same time which makes this movie gold.
17
Hellboy (2004,  PG-13)
Hellboy
Amazing stoy and special effects! The acting is brilliant! It's both funny and action packed at the same time!
18
Stranger Than Fiction (2006,  PG-13)
Stranger Than Fiction
An entirely differant movie then what Ferrell usually does, and shines in his role. He proves he can do more then comedy and should. The acting is done amazing by all especially Ferrel and Thompson. The story is imaginative and thought provoking, very will written. Visually it's very mind abosbing especially by what the filmakers call the G.U.I., which is what Crick's thought are on screen. Their fun to watch and entertaining with what they do with them. The movie moves a little slow, but has it's funny moments, it's touching moments, and it's sad moments. Everything combines into an amazing story and a very entertaining piece of fiction.
19
The New Guy (2002,  PG-13)
The New Guy
Tired of the same old "Teen" movie? Well this is completely differant and hilarious!! The acting and story are great while poking fun at traditional high school stories that plague the screen every other month.
20
The Movie Hero (Frame of Mind) (2003,  Unrated)
The Movie Hero (Frame of Mind)
I love this movie, because it appeals to the ultimate movie lover. The acting is good, the story unique, and the feel of the film makes it enjoyable. It's a tad slow storyline wise, but the creativity of the story is what I like about it. So like this movie says...your audience is watching, so play the hero.
21
Stuck On You (2003,  PG-13)
Stuck On You
A brilliant comedy with heart and humor! Everything from the acting, to the story, to the jokes is all golden! I actually laughed out loud during most of this movie, it was that good. Kinnear and Damon play perfectly off each other and are very believable at being brothers. Cher also shows her great comediac talent and is hilarious as herself. The cameos are great here as well, even though they are all brief. The story is well written, being both funny and dramatic at times. This is one of the best feel good movies, that actually makes you feel good.
22
Help! (1965,  G)
Help!
Absolutely brilliant! Just as funny as Hard Days Night, nut far more sillier. The acting is great, even by the Beatles themselves who look like they have fun on screen and are naturals. The supporting cast also do a great job providing their own great comediac moments as well. The cool thing is how they fit the songs so seemlessly into the film that their not distracting at all and don't change the feel of the film at all. The pacing is great and moves quickly and seemlessly through the whole movie. It almost moves to fast and you miss some of the funny things that come out of The Beatles mouths. Still it's one great joke after another and doesn't quit till the end of the credits. It's a classic and still funny after the umptiteenth time I've seen it. So if your down...get HELP!
23
I, Robot (2004,  PG-13)
I, Robot
My favorite Will Smith film thus far that has an amazing story that is both sci-fi, supense, thrilling, and humorous around every turn. The special effects are fantastic and flawless in every way. It's a good thing this story is only suggested by Asmov's book, because I'm pretty sure their completely differant. The parts about the wink though will be one of my favorite movie moments. Smith is a phenominal actor and shows it when he's telling the story of the accident.LaBeouf brief moments are also enjoyable as he sets himself up for leading man statis. McBride, Cromwell, Tudyk, Moynahan all give strong performances as well. Is it an realistic telling of the future? Could anyone actually know? That detective is the right question.
24
King Arthur (2004,  PG-13)
King Arthur
It's the now classic Bruckheimer production set to the amazing musical score of Hans Zimmer. Director does an awesome job capturing the characters and feel of what's going on in the movie. I defintly want to see more from this guy. Have to say the Director's Cut is pretty intense and satisfying. Non of the story is lost and the movie isn't really dragged on at all. Acting is amazing here with beautiful performances by Owen, Winstone, Mikkelsen, and Gruffud. Knightly is touch and go though. She just seems a little stiff in her performance next to every one else. The fighting is very well played, with camera shots not being too blurry, so you can't tell what's going on, but your able to see plenty of detail and all the realism. For a great period action film aim your sights on King Arther and don't feel afraid to buy the DIRECTOR'S CUT.
25
Hero (2004,  PG-13)
Hero
An amazingly visual movie that takes a surprising turn towards the end. Just when you think you know what it's about it goes in a differant direction. I do suggest you watch this one with subtitles because the voice overs don't do it justice. The fights will look a little bit familar, but there is enough differance in style that it manages to stand on it's own making each fight unique. The scene on the lake is one of my favorites except for the music is a little...ear piercing I'll say. My favorite scene would be the fight in the golden forest between the two girls. The coloring used is great. Story wise it moves a tad slow after you've seen it more then once, but the "twist" is a nice change of direction and it all comes together at the end. Li, Zhang, and Leung stood ouit the most and I hope to see Leung and Zhang in more movies. This film defintly proves that there are Heros on both sides of wars.

The Chronicles of Riddick (2004,  Unrated)
The Chronicles of Riddick
UNRATED DIRECTOR'S CUT REVIEWED:
Jumps genres perfectly! Make a perfect action film and is VERY well done. Diesel perfects the Riddick character and brings depth and meaning to him. He gives an amazing performance as do all the cast. I didn't spot performance that was awry at all Linus Roach, Karl Urban, Judi Dench, Yorick van Wageningen all get kudos for becoming their characters. This film is just plain cool and very well written. Most of the things that come out of Riddick's mouth you can't help put smile about. "I'm just passing through." will be one of my favorite movie lines for awhile to come. This film is a must see and a rarity among sequels better then the first.

Muppet Treasure Island (1996,  G)

Bubba Ho-Tep (2003,  R)
Bubba Ho-Tep
How do you describe a film that is indescribable? This film is funny, touching, scary, suspenceful, and dramatic all rolled into one! Topped off with susational performances by Campbell and Davis it's just plain fun absurdity to watch! Campbell is very believable as Elvis and as an old man too which takes some skill to not look laughable. Davis also gives a believable performance as the black JFK and is the perfect paitring to Campbell. The scarab effects kinda suck and it moves a tad slow yes the ending is worth the wait. It's one of those lesser known films that deserves a lot more attention. So thanks to the filmakers for this one. Thank you very much.
29
I Am Legend (2007,  PG-13)
I Am Legend
Will Smith's latest and greatest is just that, one of his greatest. His acting stands out the most in this movie, because it is superb! The final scene in the video store is him at his best and impressed me the most. The story is cool and moves a little slow at times, but when it comes to the last hour, everything moves fast. The scares and jump out of your seat moments are many, but sometimes far between. Still it managed to scare me plenty of times. A lot of people hate the ending, but it's one of my favorite moments in the film. A great way to end it. If your expecting Smith's newest action packed movie, then you'll probably be disappointed, because there is more story and scare in this one. In my opinion, this movie has made Smith into a legend.
30
The Benchwarmers (2006,  PG-13)
The Benchwarmers
A film that reaches it's target audience succesfully. That audience being teenage boys. The humor is great with a fine mix of slapstick, and word play. The acting is great by all around especially Schneider, Spade, and Heder. They play great off each other and are hilarious when they interact. The story is cool and an interesting twist on the underdogs win the big game. The movie moves nice and fast with the comedy never eally stopping. So if you like stupid comedys then watch this because you won't stop laughing.
31
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005,  PG-13)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The 4th is by far the best of them yet in my opinion and after seeing the 5th, their only getting better. The stoy, though notably cut down from the book, still excells, but for it be fully clear then it's probably best you've read the book. If you haven't read the book then you won't be to lost, it just helps. Radcliff steps up his game here and proves he can do more then be the cute little kid, even though he still is not very good at faking tears. Watson also excells and stands on her own in this film with all the screen time she has, she does a great job. Grint still stands as an okay actor with a few rough spots here and there. The teachers provide great performances again witha noteworthy one from Gleeson who is by far the most fun to watch. The champions give good performances for what the little screen time their on, with Pattinson giving the best performance thankfully. The special effects are bigger and better, but the less important effects suffer. Meaning Hagrid's giant stand in suffers, during somewhat closeup shots. They reveal that it defintly isn't Coltrane and distracted me a lot. Still the most complaints about this movie is that there was a lot left out from the book. Yes I was disappointed when I didn't see some scenes I was looking forward too, but still the movie can stand on it's own and surpasses the ones before it. So the filmakers could have made a four hour long dog of a movie, but instead of going with what was easy, they did what was right. A film , that yes is trimmed down, but holds your attention and moves at a great and fun pace.

Dawn of the Dead (2004,  R)
Dawn of the Dead
Finally a remake that is worth seeing! Alright I've never seen the original, but this movie is great! Great acting, awesome story, special effects, and music. I'll explain the music part soon. Acting is well done by all, especially the zombies, who are amazingly creepy and frightening! Polley delivers a few lines that seem out of place with how she says them, but other then that gives a great performance. The story is good and believable even though it never tells you how the whole plague starts, frankly you don't reall care or need to know. It also has characters you care about which is very rare in the horror genre and they all have deep character to them, without being hollow and bland. The effects are good for you gore fans, with plenty blood and guts. One scene is a little shabby, but you'll be satisfied with everything and will jump or be creeped out on several occasions just when you think it's slowing down. Now as for the music it was choosen very well. The songs in the background, beginning credits, and end credits all work great with the movie and make it even more enjoyable! The songs are one of my favorite bits about this movie along with good characters, and well paced action/story.

Scream (1996,  R)
Scream
A great, smart slasher movie that I can watch time and time again.
Excellent story that has some great tongue in cheek humor and never takes itself too seriously. Filled with great characters (which is a must have for me in any horror/slasher/thriller movie) and great actors too protray them. Lillard, Kennedy, Ulrich, Arquette, Barrymore, McGowan, Cox, and Campbell are all superb in their roles though they do border on cheesy sometimes, but the movie is good enough to look past it.
I love the Williamson's story that mixed clever writing, that any movie fan can appreciate, with some laughs and good twists and turns towards the end. Don't expect this movie to be a comedy though and don't take it too seriously either because it's somewhere in the middle. I also never really found the movie to be really scary at all, but it has a lot of entertainment value.
It's my favorite "scary" movie that I recommend to everyone and is worth the watch for some good scares and a few laughs too.

"There are certain RULES that one must abide by in order to successfully survive a horror movie. For instance, number one: you can never have sex. BIG NO NO! BIG NO NO! Sex equals death, okay? Number two: you can never drink or do drugs. The sin factor! It's a sin. It's an extension of number one. And number three: never, ever, ever under any circumstances say, "I'll be right back." Because you won't be back."
"I'm gettin' another beer, you want one?"
"Yeah, sure."
"I'll be right back!"

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989,  PG-13)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Indianna Jones returns for another(and greater) adventure. This movie out does the previous two because not only storwise, but cemestry between characters as well. Ford and Connery are great together and a lot of fun to watch. Their exchanges are genuinly funny. The effects aren't to numerous here and are ok. A disappointing shot when a character falls into a chasim though always bugs me when I see it. The acting is well done by both major and minor players. It's well shot and doesn't move slow very often. My favorite out of the 3(soon to be 4) and I suggest you watch because another great thing about it is you don't have to have seen the first two to know what's going on. It defintly worth your time!

The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King
A fitting ending to Jackson's epic tale! Again the story here is beautifully written and visualized. The characters are flawlessly performed and every moment is touching in it's own way. Still if you can't sit still for long movies, haven't seen the first two, or want nothing but epic battles(which you'll get) then you might want to stay away, but still check it out. You won't regret it.

The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (2002,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers
A great middle film that is on the same level as the first and last. Great special effects, especially Gollum who is an amazing work of CGI/motion capture. The story is great even though it doesn't have EVERYTHING from the books, if you want more then watch the extended edition. Has a lot more and is just as good! Acting is superb! Astin is the best but Serkis, Wenham, Urban, Ottom, and Boyd all give good performances as supporting characters. And that is just the supporting cast! Mckellen and Morttensen are amazing! Bloom and Ryes-Davis work well off each other and give us some great stuff to laugh at and enjoy. The Helm's Deep scene is phenominal and is a great battle scene! However Sam's speach at the end is my favorite part of the film and is delivered with perfection. If the length of this film doesn't scare you then it's well worth the watch, because it will draw you like the ring and won't let go until the very end.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000,  PG-13)
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
An interestin interpretation of Homer's THE ODESSY, but still entertaining. The story is fun and leans you entertained while moving at a good pace adding humor and wit in for good measure. The acting is well done by all, especially by Clooney, Turturro, and Nelson. The music is fun and fits well into all the right places and adds to the film. My only complaint about the music is they sing "You Are My Sunshine" way too many times! It has the feel of an indie film and that makes it all the better. This movie is good, clean, entertainment and well worth checking out wherever you find it.

The Strangers (2008,  R)
The Strangers
I haven't been unerved this much since 1408. A great scary movie that gives you a satisfying ending where few succeed in doing. Acting is great The "Strangers" do a great job at being creepy and not once was I reminded of an elf when Tyler was on screen.
I hate when any movie puts the tag "Inspired by true events on it", because it ends up being as far from true events as possible. Still the story is simple, but good. I loved how the record player was used and the character given to the two main people. It helps you care about them and cheer them on.
Plenty of jumps to be had and and it also tosses in a few gore moments as well, but not many which would have ended up hurting the film.
A beautifully made film, like I said the record player was used greatly, the masks (even though their simple) and truely creepy, and you can always tell what's going on.
Best way to see this movie is by your self or with a limited number of people.
This film also gets my vote for creepiest poster I've ever seen.

Be Kind Rewind (2008,  PG-13)
Be Kind Rewind
A cool movie that all amatuer filmakers will love. You'll get the creativity. You'll get the passion involved when making your own film. You'll get the characters. Everyone else might not get the humor, because their isn't as much as I thought would be. Instead I got a very cool inspirational story that throws in some laughs, curtosy of Black and Def. Acting is great by everybody and thankfully Black isn't his usual loud, rockstar self, but a bit more nerdy and subdued. Def is his same old stiff self who looks like he's accidently there, but it's what makes him watchable and laughable. Glover also gives a great funny performance. The story wavers on believeablity in a couple places but otherwise holds up. The most fun scene is the remaking montage. It's cool to recognize a few of your favorite films and how they brilliantly remake them. So far warning, that this movie isn't full of laughs, but when it's time to laugh you really do because the timing is perfect. So you won't just laugh, but also be inspired.
43
Sunshine (2007,  R)
Sunshine
A wondeful film that surpasses Boyle's 28 Days movies. Acting is superb by all and for these kind of movies a flawless performance is a must or you loose all serious and respect from the audience. Story is great and well written with good character drama and great subtle twists that you might not pick up till the end of the film. The end result you kind of see coming, but as for who lives and who dies there are some good surprises there. Special effects are great and having everything baithed in light during most of film it's would be hard work to do convincingly, but they pulled it off. Very well done and my only regret is I missed out on seeing this one on the big screen. So if you wake up one morning and it's a particularly beautiful day, you'll probably think of this movie.

Freddy vs. Jason (2003,  R)
Freddy vs. Jason
What a movie. Stupid, yet fun to watch. What saved this movie was the acting I think. As usual a great performance by Englund as the maniacal Freddy, also a great scared performance out of Issbella. Very convincing and you actually care for her, unlike most slasher victims. Kudos to Marquette for perfecting the loveable nerd/hero. The acting never really falters, but the effects do I'm afraid. The blood is terrible. Whenever there is a large quanity (i.e. on the walls, the floor) it looks CGIed and any other time much to thick. Also a couple shots where you can tell someone doesn't get stabbed, but they die anyway. Jason catches on fire and you can tell he's bulked up on fire proof clothing. Also I couldn't help but see a resemblance between the two drug/party throwers and Jay and Silent Bob. I mean it's a fat guy and a long haired skinny druggy in a wool cap. The "epic battle between to terror titans" is disappointing at best and doesn't happen till the last lap of the film. Even so, for some reason this film is just down right entertaining. You watch it and you can't help but grin, laugh, and wince at what's going on on screen. Also THANK YOU for one of THE coolest ways to end a film. The last shot before the credits role is awesome and seal the deal that this film is enjoyable. Not a whole lot for horror fans, but I find it a satisfying combination of the franchises and worth watchiong late at night or with a bunch of friends for a movie night.
45
Dragonheart (1996,  PG-13)
Dragonheart
One of my favorites. Great story, with a cool twist on the medevil/dragon tale. Begins good and ends very satisfactory. It throws in action, characters, and a fine mix of humor to be perfect. Acting is superb! Connery is the perfect choice as the voice of Draco and brings the character to life and gives him personality.Thewlis is also a very believable villian and has an edge of creepiness that makes the character perfect. Quiad, even though his accent is sometimes very heavy, still gives a great and believable performance. Postlethwaite is downright hilarious, but also gives a strong performance at more serious moments as the monk and shines whenever on screen. Meyer also gives a good show as one of her first roles, standing up against some of these seasoned actors. Special effects, though great for there time, don't stand as well these days like JURASSIC PARL does. There are some bad spots, but thankfully they aren't on screen for long. The film moves a tad slow if you've seen it a few times, but first time viewers won't be too bored.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007,  R)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Johnny Depp sure can sing! Well...so can the entire cast. The music is probably the best feature the film has, and be sure to listen closely because some of the funniest bits are in the song lyrics. The songs aren't like your typical musical though, because you really can't sing a long with any of them. Still their fun to listen to.
The story is good and well written, and the whole stoy is well and believably wrapped up, but the ending leaves you with less then a happy feeling. But hey, it is a story about a sing serial killer barber, so what do you expect? The kills are done very supensefully and keep you on your seat. The blood looks fake though, but that makes it stand out so much better against Burton's dark and dismal London. Burton/Depp give us another good collaberation with a fun, suspenseful, bloody musical. It's one you will never forget.
47
Doom (2005,  R)
Doom
A video game based movie that was surprisingly fun to watch. If you like guns, explosions, and alien monsters killing people left and right. It's a funy story with good characters most of the time, but they all give good performances. The story is pretty basic, but includes some good character drama. There are some good twists and character developements, made strong by good acting all around. The only thing I didn't like was when they go into first person mode towards the end of the movie. It's cool, but halfway through it starts to get old. There are a couple of good scares, but in the end it's all about the guns. For a movie based on a video game it's just a fun, mindless violence movie.
NOTE: The unrated. extended edition is just as good.
48
Stay Alive (2006,  PG-13)
Stay Alive
An amazing storyline that leads up to a slightly disappointing ending. The ending just didn't have that right feel to it. Everything else about the film is brilliant! The story, though the plot seems like a rip off at first, is very imaginative and nicely paced. The characters are well written and it's hard to tell who will go next. Don't expect a frighting film though because this film isn't all that scary. A few surprises yes, but major scares, no. Still the story is entertaining so it doesn't reall need the scares at all to move the film along. Acting was done very fell, Jimmi Simpson and Franki Muniz shine in their roles. Effects look like those from a video game cutscene which makes them all the better for this movie. See this movie with any video game junkies you know and they'll love it.
UNRATED: DIRECTOR'S CUT DVD-Just stay away from it. All the added scenes have this terrrible unfinished look to them and gets annoying when they pop up during the film. As for the new character and subplot? It fails to add anything cooler to the story and just compicates it more. Also some of the cooler, more character driven moments of the film we're taken out which didn't make me happy at all. As well as the picture quality in the deleted scenes, the sound is off a lot too, plus the swearing added to some of the coolest lines ruins them completely. The only thing worth getting it for is it's finally explained why the countess is suddenly naked after chaining up Abigail. Other then that this DVD was no where near worth the $14.95 I spent on it. I'll just get the regular version instead.

The Rundown (Welcome to the Jungle) (2003,  PG-13)
The Rundown (Welcome to the Jungle)
Okay let me give you "the rundown" on this movie. IT IS AWESOME! There is nothing fantastic about the story or acting but it provides good entertainment! It's both humorous and a great action flick. There are a few moments that are cimeatic gold! The whole movie is very well shot and moves along well without being slow inbetween the action sequences. The Rock proves to be a decent actor and Walken gives another golden performance. So I'll leave you with two options. Option B is you never see this movie and spend your life wishing you had. Or optiopn A. You watch it and be entertained for fun filled, explosive two hours. Your call.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984,  PG)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Idianna Jones is back! No nazis here though as he fights these weird guys and bugs. Really BIG bugs. The story is pretty basic and not nearly as well done as the first, but still provides entertainment. The acting is done well, especially the comestry between QWuan and Ford. They play very well off each other and it shows. Special effects are okay for it's time, but not enough of them to cause any annoyance. All and all a nice action flick with all the right ingrediants. Give or take the monkey brains.

Unbreakable (2000,  PG-13)
Unbreakable
Before SIXTH SENSE and SIGNS, there was Unbreakable. And even then we should have known a master was on his way. Shymalan's films are set to entertain, have you in suspense, and leave you thinking at the end of it all. This film is no differant. The acting is solid, with both Jackson and Willis giving very good performances. The story is slightly differant then what your used to from Shymalan, but that made it all the better. The end half of the movie makes up for a slightly slow beginning. Any Shymalan fan and anyone who doesn't even know who he is, should check this movie out.

Scary Movie 3 (2003,  PG-13)

Funniest of them yet! Charlie Sheen is great as are everyone else! Great moments and plenty of laugh out loud moments.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971,  G)
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
The classic story brought to life in the best way! Ostrum and Wilder are the stars of the show here! The music, acting, and story are brilliantly protrayed

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003,  PG-13)
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
The classic book characters are brought to life. Each one is brilliantly acted and if your a fan of the books, then you'll love each charcter. The acting, action, and story all great here and make a fine action/adventure flick.

Space Jam (1996,  PG)
Space Jam
Looney Tunes at it's best! Every cameo in this ovie is unforgetable and hilarious! Music is awesome as well as the animation!
56
WALL-E (2008,  G)
WALL-E
Great, amazing movie! Probably the best I've seen all year and tops the list of my favorite Disney/Pixar movie! It just as so much heart and character. They actually were able to give a robot personality and Wall-E is an amazing accomplishment in animation and sound effects. Ben Burtt did a fantastic job giving voice to the characters whether vocally as in Wall-E's case or the various sounds they make as machines. The story was great and the message was was almost always on the edge of screaming at you in the face but it was a lot more cleverly done and a better delivery then when Happy Feet tried it. The animation is amazing! It looked almost real at times and continues to do so through the rest of the movie. I love this movie and Wall-E should go on the list of the greatest, if not cutest, movie characters of all time.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2) (2008,  PG-13)
The X-Files: I Want to Believe (The X Files 2)
ehh...so yeah. Not really "action packed", "a thrill a minute", or even a "scarefest". Mostly what it did was answer the one question that everyone but me seemed to care about. What happened relationship wise with Mulder and Scully. Have no fear they answered that question. And basically it plays like a long episode which makes the film not half bad. A little long but nothing an X-Phile wouldn't mind watching. But being like show doesn't mean it really follows. I mean in the last episode the government was chasing them in missle filled black helicopters and now their all forgive and forget? I don't buy it. Still they had to come out of hiding somehow.
Duchovny and Anderson did a great job and fit right back into their roles with ease. Connolly I'm also a big fan of and he did great. Xzibit I'm glad that he just isn't another Ice Cube and plays differant people, and does it well.
The story was good, just needed to play faster in order to keep people hooked, but it managed to answer all the questions involving the case (unlike some of the show episodes)
So unless your an X-Phile, you might have trouble believing that I actually like this movie, but it should have made for TV.
58
The Dark Knight (2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
Completely blew me away! Few movies have ever had me hooked from the first 5 minutes into it, but I was sold almost immediately.
First off I want to comment on the role everyone wants to know about. Heath Ledger as The Joker. He surppasses every Joker before him, he makes all the Joker's before him look like just plain clowns ,not insane genuis madmen and Ledger brought him to life with perfection and is completely disappeared behind the role.
But he isn't the only noteworthy performance, Eckhart also was very impressive and when it was his turn to change, he did so with the ease of flipping a coin.
I also continue to enjoy Caine's Alfed, because he fits the role so well and adds heart and humor to a dark film.
Bale also shines as Batman/Wayne, and I liked him best when he's not wearing the mask.
Freeman, Gyllenhaal, and Oldman also give great performances and completely disappear behind their characters and just become them.
The story is multilayered and fantastic. The twist and turns throughout the entire movie leave you guessing what will happen and the film captures that insanity well, making the first hour of the film go by like that.
Though I have to be honest, I wasen't happy with the way it ended and I hate giving any of it away. It just seemed to be to complicated of a moral choice and kinda of a moment killing way to end the movie. If it had ended with the scene with the ferries then it would have been perfect.
Still it's satisfying sequel for fans that will leave you with plenty of questions about good and evil, but the one that will ring in your head the most will be The Joker's manical laughter and "Why So Serious?"

"You are just a freak, like me! "

Miracle (2004,  PG)
Miracle
One of few sports movies that has any re-watchability. A beautifully done and a very inspiring film with a great cast. Russel leads the way and does a great job at it. The various players also give good performances with Cahill, Demsey, and Mantenuto giving good, strong, performances. I don't know how well the story follows the actual evens but it plays out well and moves at a good entertaining speed. Worth watching the first time and multiple times thereafter. One of my favorite sports movies.
60
Tropic Thunder (2008,  R)
Tropic Thunder
Great movie and Tom Cruise has earned more respect from me. It's not something that will keep you laughing from start to finish, but it will keep a smile on your face from beginning to end. It's a got a great story and adds something differant to Hollywood while still poking fun at Hollywood itself. Speaking of hollywood it seems that everyone is in this movie. You'll have fun just wondering whose going to pop up next. Great stuff from Black and Downey Jr. was the most hysterical character in the whole movie and gave an amazing performance. Stiller played his same old self to perfection. It works for him in this movie though really. Fantastic movie, I had fun watching it.
DIRECTOR'S CUT: Nothing extra really worth seeing. The added scenes aren't really funny enough to have been added and the alternate ending on the DVD isn't as good as the original one. Still it's just a slightly longer version of the movie so it isn't bad, but not worth your extra bucks unless you really liked the orginal version.
DURING CREDITS: Beginning of credits features some funny clips that are worth sticking around and watching.

"All right fellas, we're gonna make camp, rest up. Y'all might be in for a treat.
You know back before the war broke out I was a saucier in San Antone. I bet I could collar up some of them greens, yeah, some crawfish out the paddy, yo'! Ha! I'm makin' some crabapples for dessert now, yo! Hell yeah, ha!
"Hell yeah! Ha! That's how we all talk? We all talk like dis, "suh"? Yes suh, ha! Yeah mmm-hmm get some crawfish, and some ribs, ha! Ye-aah. You're Australian! Be Australian! Excuse me, Kangaroo Jack! "
".....I get excited about my foods, man."

300 (2007,  R)
300
Thankfully this movie wasen't all about the fights and blood, but they actually gave it a story. Great acting by Butler, Wenham, and Headey. The effects are amazing and on the same scale as Lord of the Rings. The story (which has to be very inaccurate) is good, but the way it was filmed is what makes this film worth watching. How it goes from slow motion to fast, the camera goes around the fight capturing every movement, is just amazing. The one thing I didn't like was the tranvestite looking Xerxes. How could you be scared of him? I'd laugh everytime he'd give an order.
So the film IS all it's cracked up to be and I think the guys from "Robot Chicken" best describe this movie-"It ain't accurate, but it'll blow your f*****g mind!"
62
Big Fish (2003,  PG-13)
Big Fish
This is one of my favorite of Tim Burton's and one of his best. I love the story and feel of the film! It's full of Burton's strangeness, but it doesn't overshadow, darken, or depress the film at all. Its very well acted by all, except a few one liner characters (I'm looking at YOU Miley Cyrus). Finney and McGregor are amazing. They look and seem like the same person throughout the whole film. Buscemi and Devito were also fun to watch.
But what I love about this movie is the story. It's morals, it's message, and the imaginative stories that Bloom tells. You never know what will happen next in them. The movie is a really Big Fish tale, but it still has that ring of truth about it that helps it seem real.

"A man tells his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way he becomes immortal."
63
Hook (1991,  PG)
Hook
It's one of my childhood favorites and I'll probably never get tired of it. It can be corny some times yes, but it's still the perfect kids movie and provides an interesting answer to the question, "What would happen if Peter Pan grew up?".
The story is cool and touches on almost all of the many tellings of Peter Pan in book, theater, and movies. Everything fits together nicely and you get a good, happy ending.
The acting is great, with Hoffman and Williams making the perfect Hook and Pan. Hoskins as Smee is also funny. Smith is always great and gets to not play a grumpy old woman in this movie. The lost boys, like most young child actors, have there good and bad moments but they are few and far between here.
The special effects though have suffered with age and anytime when their using a blue screen instead of wires, it shows.
Still I like this movie and kids won't care about that sort of thing anyway and this one is perfect for them.

"Have to fly, have to fight, have to crow, have to save Maggie, have to save Jack, Hook is back."
64
Hot Fuzz (2007,  R)
Hot Fuzz
Much better then Shaun of the Dead and one of my favorite action/comedies. The story is great! And I loved the red herring plot along with the actual reason for the murders. It's a lot more sinister. I also love all the added detail that you don't pick up on till you watch the bonus features on the DVD. It really adds to the movie and the story. Like SOTD the story gets some good detail and doesn't suffer cause of the comedy parts. The jokes are funny even if there are some gaps in between them, but those gaps are filmed with cool gun fights, smart dialogue, and funny "serious" scenes. The acting is great and I love all the cameos that you'll have to watch for. Pegg manages to play a differant character from Shaun, but Frost still had a lot of similarities with Ed. Broadbent was funny and Dalton made a great villain.
If you have to watch this film for one reason, then let that reason be the gun fight at the end of the film. It's amazing! This is one of my all time favorites and I hope the three of them make something again soon!

"So what made you want to become a policeman?"
"Officer."
"What made you want to become a policeman-officer?"
65
Speed (1994,  R)
Speed
The most perfect fun action flick you can find. Mix explosions, cool psychotic villian, funny side characters, and simple yet awesome story and you get SPEED. It's one of those movies you can watch on a weekend and feel good afterwards, because your either blown away, or laughingyour head off. The acting is a perfect mix and Reeves fits into his role well, playing off of Bullock, Daniel, and Hopper's characters perfectly. The dialogue has the special mix of humor and action that I love, so even when there is nothing going BOOM, it's still fun to watch and listen to. Special effects are good except for a bad subway minature towards the end. The story is simple, but the underlining plot and mystery are nice and does't stretch your imagination. So, pop quiz hot shots. For a fun, funny, action packed movie that you can enjoy multiple times, what do you pick?

"It's a game. If he gets the money he wins, if the bus blows up he wins."
"What if you win?"
"Then tomorrow we'll play another one."
"But I'm not available to drive tomorrow. Busy."
66
Jurassic Park (1993,  PG-13)
Jurassic Park
Spielberg's masterpiece! It is probably his best movie and he'll never be able to top. The acting, story, and visual effects are all stunning! Even though the CGI is starting to be effected by the times, the animatronics are still amazing.
The acting is great from Neil and Dern, Goldberg is hysterical, and Attenborough is amazing.
Even the kids are good here and don't have any bad moments like most child actors tend to have.
From what I remember of the book, the movie manages to follow it pretty closely, but not completely.
This movie is watchable and you can watch so many times and not be bored with it. It's got some great moments and the last scenes are truely intense set to William's music score and the way they are played out.
It's a beautiful, intense, funny, thrill ride that can still be watched even today. So if you haven't seen it yet then check it out.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992,  G)
The Muppet Christmas Carol
My favorite Christmas movie that's filled with great songs and great moments that make me laugh everytime I watch.
The voice cast is the best and Caine as Scrooge is perfect. The story got the perfect muppet spin to it, but still has a good Dicken's feel to the movie that helps it feel true to the story.
Rizzo and Gonzo are the perfect pair to tell the tale and their commentary throughout the movie is hilarious.
The songs are also great and "Scrooge" is one of my favorite Christmas songs.
This movie is a must watch for me every Christmas and part of my tradition.

"You're a little absent-minded, spirit."
"No, I am a LARGE absent-minded spirit."

Swiss Family Robinson (1960,  G)
Swiss Family Robinson
My favorite movie when I was growing up! I would watch this film all the time.
It's perfect Disnye, full of adventure, Pirates, exotic animals, and good clean family fun.
The acting is great by everyone involved (even though Corcoran starts to get annoying after awhile) and you really feel that their a family.
The end battle with the pirates always stuck with me as a kid and I loved the coconut bombs!
Yeah a lot of the stuff is cheesey, like how few of the pirates actually die, the fight with the anaconda, and how all those animals are on the island, but it's stuff that doesn't matter too a kid, All they'll see is the awesome tree house the family got to live in and the race on all the animals.
It's classic Disney and perfect for the family.

"Why don't we put up a distress flag?"
"Don't you think we look distressed enough? Ernst, anyone who sees a ship stuck on the rocks might possibly guess it's in trouble."

Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier (1955,  PG)
Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier
Another one of my childhood favorite Disney classics, even if it's no where near historically acurate.
It's a cool old movie, and the end scene at the Alamo will be one of my favorite movie moments ever.
The acting is great by Parker, who makes the perfect Crockett, and Ebsen who makes a great sidekick.
It's the perfect family friendly Disney movie and will always be a favorite of mine and I'll be able to watch it again and again.

"I'm half-horse, half-alligator and a little attached with snapping turtle. I've got the fastest horse, the prettiest sister, the surest rifle and the ugliest dog in Texas. My father can lick any man in Kentucky... and I can lick my father."

Now You See Him, Now You Don't
This one was my favorite as a kid out of the three Medfield College movies, because the special effects just amazed me. Now some of the effects are dated, but more of them still hold up and are just as impressive now.
Russel was great as always, McGreevey made the perfect side kick to him, and I liked Menges best out of the two girls who came before her.
Flynn's character is kind of annoying really, but he doesn't have a whole lot of screen time this time around and Romero makes one of the coolest, slickest villians from Disney movies.
I also liked the story and feel it's more on the same level as THE COMPUTER WORE TENNIS SHOES and came together better then WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN.
It's a good old Disney family friendly movie.

"Why'd you say that?"
"Cause you bumped into me and said your sorry, so I said that's alright."
"But I didn't bump into you."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"That's alright."

1408 (2007,  PG-13)
1408
Very few movies manage to make me jump at all, but this one suceeded in getting a few decent scares out of me. It's an amazing, suspenseful film that has that great scary and unnerving feel to it, throughout the whole movie! It turns an ordinary hotel room, that could be anywhere, into the scariest place on earth! I love the little bits with the radio and the window. Some of the little things in the movie turn out to be the scariest and used for the maximum effect. It's proably THE best Stephen King story adaptation though it is obviously longer and has more to it then the short story in EVERYTHING'S EVENTUAL. It beats THE SHINING out of "Best Haunted Hotel Movie" easily in my book.
Acting is great by all, especially Cusack who shines as the leading man all the time. Jackson plays up the "scary one minute, friendly hotel manager the next" perfectly and is great for the short time he is actually in the movie.
It's got a good satsfying ending that is neither happy nor sad, so it's perfect for me.

DIRECTOR'S CUT REVIEW: The director's cut seems the same for most of the movie until about halfway into it where more added bits pop up, including a cooler scene in the air duct that I wish had made it into the original cut. The alternate ending is less then pleasing though, but props to the guys who advertised it. It's not the same as in the commercial! So if you liked the original version then this is worth the rent, because the movie doesn't move any slower. It just doesn't make it better.

It's made it's way into being one of my favorite slightly scary, defintly freaky movies and I highly recommend it. You might not jump in your seat, but you'll defintly think twice before staying the night at a hotel again. I gurantee it.

"General manager claims that the phantom in room interferes..."
"I have *never* used the word "phantom.""
"Oh, I'm sorry. Uh, spirit? Specter?"
"Whatever's in 1408 is nothing like that."
"Then what is it?"
"It's an evil f****** room."

Spider-Man 2 (2004,  PG-13)
Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 2 can do better then Spider-Man can. I have to say I love the more personal conflict in this story and the deeper developement of all the characters in this sequel. That doesn't mean that it's cut down on any of the action all superhero movies need, because it has stepped it up a notch here. Special effects are even more amazing here and look very real with only a couple trouble spots here and there. The only thing that really bothered me was when he's in the burning building and grabs the door knob. It would have been scalding hot! Other then that theres nothing really wrong with this movie. The acting is solid, the story moves fast and is well written and I look forward to what the future of the series holds.

Mallrats (1995,  R)
Mallrats
Sometimes I wonder if Smith's Clerks movie over shadow his othe films. I consider this his funniest movie with a better cast. London and Lee just deliver the hilarious monologues better then the CLERKS guys do. Lee gives a star performance here and really does stand as a hero for slackers. The story is pretty simple, but it adds for so much chaos and funny situations that it passes. Plus we get more Jay and Silent Bob without getting overdosed from them. Why some consider this his worst I might never now, but I think he shows his best here and makes me laugh no matter how many times I watch the Easter Bunny get beat up. And that's what gives a comedy it's staying power.

Star Trek (2009,  PG-13)
Star Trek
Quite possibly one of the few PERFECT movies in existence. The movie has the perfect mix of stuff for the old TREK fans and people who know almost nothing about STAR TREK at all, so everyone is able to enjoy it.
Pine and Quinto were a perfect match to work side by side as Kirk and Spock and worked perfect with each other and bring refreshingly young faces to the franchise.
The casting of Cho and Pegg is shear brilliance and gave the movie great laughs and action moments.
Urban channels DeForrest Kelly's McCoy, containing all the old character elements while still making it his own thing.
Nimoy fit into the old shoes of Spock perfectly and is probably better at it now then he was before.
The only person I would have preferred to not be in the movie was Tyler Perry. I'm sorry, but the guy who dresses up as Madea should not have been allowed anywhere near this film.
The story is amazing and the twists they've added will let them take the sequls anywhere they want too and promises to be AWESOME! Also I'm glad they didn't go the whole dark-background story that prequels seem to be doing lately. It proves a film can still be fun and exciting. The movie is full of the emotional intensity that I expected from something from J.J. Abrams, having been a fan of his since LOST. He did a great job with reviving STAR TREK to make it something cool once again and something everyone can enjoy and watch. Not just the guys in their mom's basement (are there any of them really living there? It has yet to be proven), but for everyone who wants to boldly go where no man has gone before and get blown away by an amazing movie. The only thing that would have made it better was if there had been Tribbles.

"May I speak freely?"
"I encourage it."
"Are you out of your Vulcan mind?"

Arachnophobia (1990,  PG-13)
Arachnophobia
This movie is great! It will freak out anyone who is scared of spiders and will keep you in suspense till the end. It's a great thriller that has an awesome cast and good story.
Daniels is perfect as the main character and shows great fear and all around average guy.
Goodman is also great and adds some good humor as the hysterical local exterminator.
The story is simple, yet delivers in all the right places and I'm able to watch this film plenty of times and still be entertained. Even though I wasen't scared all the time, I still enjoyed watching this film either way. If you actually have arachnophobia then you will probably be terrified from this movie!

"Would anyone object if I tore this floor out?"
"I would."
"False alarm then. Lead on."

Alien Resurrection (1997,  R)
Alien Resurrection
This movie still stands as one of my favorite movies and as THE best Alien movie!
Despite it's sometimes annoying dramatic zoom-ins and a couple plot holes (how in the world did they get a hold of a sample of Ripley's blood after all these years?) the movie still holds a lot of entertainment value to me.
Part of that being it's fantastic cast! Dourif does a creepy scientist with perfection, Perlman makes a great sarcastic hard head, Pinon is amazing as the wheelchair bound mechanic, and Ryder is great as the new wide-eyed young girl. Weaver once again does a great jo and treats the Cloned Ripley as a whole new character, which basically she is, and does a great job with it. The cast is full of some of my favorite actors who played some of my most favorite characters in some of my most favorite movies. The cast is what draws me back to the movie, because they work so well together, you care about their characters, and enjoy watch them fight for survival.
The pacing is great! Not too slow and not too fast, and everything happens at just the right times to make it both suspenseful and entertaining. I have no problems with the script realy, because it all kind of works at great at the end.
Also there are just a couple bad CGI moments, but thankfully they cut down on showing the Alien that much, so it helps for the film's realism and makes it a lot lless fake looking. But I like the film so much I can forgive it for those couple of mistakes.
It's amazing that the fourth film in the series is my favorite, because most franchises have dried up by the time they reach that point, but ALIEN hanged in there. Despite it's faults it still made a great entertaining popcorn flick. Check this one out whenever you get the chance.

"Hey, Ripley. I heard you, like, ran into these things before?"
"That's right."
"Wow, man. So, like, what did you do?"
"I died."

Reservoir Dogs (1992,  R)
Reservoir Dogs
Even though INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS holds the top spot in my favorite Tarantino movie list, this came VERY close to dethroning it.
Tarantino's writing skills shine in this movie as you hang on to ever word the characters speak and the actors do an excellent job of delivering those lines so your interested in their characters and what they have to say.
Buscemi, Roth, and Keitel are excellent in their roles and steal the show giving some of their best performances of their careers.
It's a heist movie where you never actually see the heist and the scenery very rarely ever changes because the movie stays in mostly one room. Very few directors could make a movie like that and keep it interesting enough that you watch it till the very last shot. If I had seen this movie sooner then I would have become a Tarantino fan a long time ago.
Defintly worth seeing, and if your a fan of Quentin Tarantino and you haven't seen this movie yet, then you need to soon.

"Are you gonna bark all day, little doggy, or are you gonna bite?"
"What was that? I'm sorry, I didn't catch it. Would you repeat it?"
"Are you gonna bark all day, little doggy, or are you gonna bite?"

Not Another Teen Movie (2001,  R)
Not Another Teen Movie
A genius spoof movie that hits the mark evey time. It pokes fun at a genre that needed to be laughed at, but still have some respect for some of the great movies they're making fun of.
The cast is excellent and fit into their cliche roles perfectly. Evans, Leigh, Pressly, Quiad, Olsen, Jungmann, McMains, they all do a great job. Throw in some hilarious cameos from Mr. T, Molly Ringwald, and Paul Gleeson and you've got yourself a great movie.
The story has a perfect mix of movies from the 80s to the 90s which is one of the reasons I like it, cause it's just not a bunch of random sketches and pop culture refrences like the newer spoof movies.
*cough* Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's movies *cough*.
It's well worth watching if you get the chance so check it out!
END OF CREDITS: Scene shortly after the credits have started and also at the very end of the credits.

"All I said was, "I'm pretending to whisper a big secret in your ear, so Jake here thinks that I'm telling you a big secret, which will cause him to break into a hysterical confession where he actually reveals... a big secret. Thus confirming everything I just whispered in your ear."

Scream 2 (1997,  R)
Scream 2
Just as much fun as the first with a great story and the same tongue in cheek humor that made the first so enjoyable.
Great characters protrayed by some great acting from the cast. Arquette, Campbell, Cox, O'Connell, Kennedy, and Olyphant all do a fantastic job of living up to the first one.
Like I said the story is just as good as the humor and thrills continue on in this sequel as they poke fun at the horror genre (and themselves) while experiencing it. Though don't get me wrong, it's not all laughs. The funny stuff just comes from clever writing and the film should in no way be looked at as a comedy. There are some great serious moments and some great suspense moments all mixed into the movie revolving around characters you care about. Which is a big thing for me, cause in a horror movie if I don't care about the character's survival then what's the point in watching?
Yet again it wasen't overly scary for me, but it was a bit more suspenseful then the first. The entertainment value is still there though.
Craven masterfully brings Williamson's clever story to life and creates a sequel that is worth watching time and time again. Even if it's just for the great scene with O'Connell singing.

"Empire Strikes Back. Better story, improved effects."
"Not a sequel, part of a trilogy, completely planned."
"I like the little furry things."
"Ewoks? They blow."
