Flamboyant, foolhardy documentary filmmaker, Carl Denham, sails off to remote Skull Island to film his latest epic with leading lady, Ann Darrow. Native warriors kidnap Ann to use as a sacrifice as th...( read more

Oh god. Perfect example of why few directors should be given a chance to do anything they want after making lots of money for a movie studio
Way too much King Kong on Dinosaur action. I think I fell asleep for a half hour once and he was still killing that poor T-Rex.
estaa curadaa la peliculaa pero duraas comoo k 3 horas y esoo la hizoo un pocoo chafaa y aburridaa:P
With many unecessarily overlong sections, this king sized epic outstays its welcome, despite excellent direction. It's a marathon, but a hugely entertaining one at that.
Any scene not involving the ape is amature. The scenes with the rescue party are laughable; "I'll survive a dinosaur stampede" "fire a tommy gun at me inexperienced lad. You'll hit only the big bugs on me" only some of the effects work, mostly the kong shots. Too long, too epic for my liking. What heart it has is lost in the expected and the glitz.
I'm not sure how i missed this. Oh wait, eveyone said it sucked. Oh yeah.
If its ever on cable, maybe I'll watch it.
Peter Jacksons fantastic take on the original.
Think I've recently seen the gorilla in a dairy milk add so he has managed to avoid being type cast.
The only memorable part was the T-rex fight scene and that was good enough for 3 stars. the rest of the movie is a blank.
Peter Jackson gjorde det igen. denna filmen är hur bra som helst och det går inte att låta bli och tycka synd om gorillan. måste ses.
"Will there be boobies?"- a movie executive to Carl Denham in KING KONG. Uh, no there won't be. And the frightening, audacious violence of the original KING KONG is reined in considerably- when it comes to chomping on humans, Kong's bestiality is more indicated than shown (lots of quick cut-aways). Shockingly, with a budget four-hundred times greater than the original, the CGI-effects are just adequate and at times they fail utterly as in the protracted Brontosaurus stampede. In one scene, as Kong is chasing Driscoll (Adrian Brody) through a narrow New York alley, the creature steps out onto the sidewalk- and his leg appears to pass right through a scrambling pedestrian! Also, in the frenzied T-Rex/Kong battle or even as Kong travels swiftly with Ann to his mountain lair, the decision to have point of view shots from Ann's perspective or to whip the camera around to heighten the fury of clashing giants actually reduces the terror while increasing a sense of visual, vertigo-inducing, confusion. In early interviews Jackson said he wasn't interested in any sexual byplay but was looking for a more "emotional relationship" between Ann and Kong. This is another misstep: what is more redolent with emotion than a sexual encounter? Where the film succeeds is in the opening scenes with a highly evocative Depression-era New York, establishing the identities of the characters who are all, for the most part, greatly improved (a big exception, Jack Driscoll, a rugged if wooden he-man in the original, is turned into an effete playwright and acted with an incongruous, sheepish gravity by Mr. Brody), and unexpected thrills: the single most terrifying moment comes as the tramp steamer, Venture, enters Skull Island's treacherous shallow waters. Due to humor and wit (think of Ann and Kong on the ice) the film is engaging. But it strains to convey the heartfelt bond between beast and blonde it wanted to show so desperately.
well this film is really good when it gets passed the begining and the end and just the middle bit is good when there in the island. but yes its quyit a good film.
This is the King Kong movie! Stunning throughout. When I left the cinema, the scene with Cook stayed with me for hours afterwards! Genius. Jack Black shines in a serious role
This modern remake of the classic thriller is less of a straight imitation effort than it is a flowering of possibilities not fully explored in th 1933 film. In particular, the relationship between Anne Darrow and Kong is developed touchingly and, as much as can be done, convincingly. And at a time when Hollywood audiences seem to need everything explained verbally, "King Kong" has the bravery to develop the nonverbal communication between the characters in a way that few movies even attempt. A look can be worth a thousand words, and "King Kong" knows it.
Awesome special effects, brilliant story and one of my favourite adventure movies of all time. This is so much more than a mere monster flick. It's a visual feast that also happens to be well-written and captivating, which isn't exactly a common thing within the genre. So if this is the Jurassic Park of the 21th century, Peter Jackson must surely be the new Spielberg :-)
Jackson makes sure we connect with the hairy ape on a personal level and in the end you'll be glad you watched it.
"Ah, that's something to tell your grandkids: 'And then I fell madly in love with a giant gorilla'."- My best friend's younger sister
I haven't seen the original, so I can't really comment there; but I enjoyed Kong overall. It was a bit long and overblown, but the performances were strong and the effects were stunning.
I think it is a little too long to be truthful because it is a good film but it's three hours and its a bit too long for a film.
that is actually is another one of my favorites it is so sweet how he is always there to save the girl
This is one of my favorites. Loved the '76 version but this one blew it away. The effects are mind blowing!
dosen't compare with the 1933 verstion. the old vertion makes you appreciate the old stop motionn photography mastered by ray harrihousen
Intense, amazing filmmaking. I want to be Peter Jackson when I grow up. Didn't expect to cry my eyes out through the last 15 minutes though.
Three hours of ape falling in love with girl to the backtrack of meaningful classic music. Color me falling-off-the-couch-bored.
Not perfect (5 hour brontosaurus stampede? I nearly fell asleep during it!), but ... anytime it's a Kong movie and I teared up, they did it right. I teared up. Boy, did I.

It wasn't really that good, boring in most parts
But the scenes with Naomi Watts & Kong were amazing, she was like an angel, I loved her, really
lumpy the cook(play by andy serkis but also dual-role kong)is mading so laugh when he hit insect with the flying pan and then he shoot insect with the tommy-gun at the jungle to search ann scene.

damn!1 of my favorite movie of all time!spectacular special effects!!another blockbuster hit of peter jackson!!"two thumbs uP"after all..after all this the most expensive movie of all time!!
It was good, not great... To long though, for the story and what it needed to convey.
What this movie actually suffered from with its length is similar to what Titanic suffered from with its length. Specifically, the movie didn't suck at all, it just wasn't good enough, in acting, directing, screenplay, etc., in any area to justify the sheer length of the film. And... well, in a way that does suck.
I can say that I saw it & state my opinion on it, but in a way that's all it's worth. The movie just wasn't that good.
