Fantastic film! I really was not expecting to be as blow away as I am. I'm sure it?s not historically accurate and the subtitles are questionable at times but in the end, this is a very impressive epic, beautifully shot and very well acted. There was not a moment that I was not e...( read more)

The best film I have seen in years, truely 100% awesome film making. Mr Gibson may have caused trouble in the past with his beliefs but bugger me a can make a film. This is perfect in every way. It looks out of this world, perfect, realistic down to the last detail. The sound is ...( read more)

Critic Reviews
[Gibson] has learned how to tell a tale, and to raise a pulse in the telling. You have to admire that basic gift, uncommon as it is in Hollywood these days, though equally you have to ask what obsessi... full review
By now, it's fair to say that Mel Gibson does not make boring movies. He does, however, make movies that make you a little worried about him. full review
It is Mel Gibson's latest proof that as a director, his ambition is boundless and his energy nearly so, but his judgment is sorely lacking. full review
"Apocalypto" isn't a movie for everyone, Lord knows. Those who dislike even the thought of a big, black jungle cat chewing the face off a fallen warrior should probably see another movie. full review
Perhaps Gibson is trying to shock us into absorbing the torment and severity of man's inhumanity to man. The tragedy is that the film has the opposite effect: As we are bombarded by savagery, we becom... full review
Mel Gibson's Apocalypto is, above all, a muscular and kinetic action movie, a drama of rescue and revenge with very little organic relation to its historical setting.
There's a savage magnificence to Apocalypto, with visuals worthy of Fellini or David Lynch, and the kind of relentless excitement that only a few filmmakers can deliver. full review
Gibson has made a film of blunt provocation and bruising beauty. full review

July 24, 2007The review given by 00AYA00 is one of the most insipid reviews i've ever read! Ill give her the benefit of the doubt however and chalk it up to teenage stupidity. It was the white man who destroyed the great civilizations of the americas and if you ever decide to open up a history book, you'll find that european history was just as brutal as any other civilization. The europeans killed for far more ridiculous reasons than the native americans EVER did! Stay in school dingleberry and learn some grammar! (dummy!)
